The Powell County Pirate Cheerleaders traveled to Breathitt County last Sunday to compete for the 14th Region title. They had put in numerous hours of practice and spent many snow days in the gym in preparation for their big day.

The girls took the floor and nailed their routine but in the end fell short to the Hazard Bulldogs coming away with second place.

Senior cheerleaders were honored by the KAPOS organization and Senior Ashley Halsey was awarded the Betty Novak Scholarship. This scholarship was newly founded and Halsey was the first recipient.

Head coach Terena Wallingford would like to say thank you to the businesses, parents and fans for supporting the cheerleaders this season.
