Story Time at the Powell County Public Library is every Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for ages 3 to 5 years. We will read stories, do crafts and sometimes a movie.
Soccer League Sign Ups

Census jobs are coming to Kentucky. The U.S. Census Bureau now is looking for applicants to fill thousands of jobs this spring in all counties. Earn $10.75 an hr. Soccer Players needed
FC of Kentucky of Winchester, a U11Girls/Boys and U12 Boys select soccer team is looking for players for the spring select season. If interested, please contact Mike B. at 859-595-7389. Currently, we are training once a week. FC plays a full Fall and Spring season and four to six tournaments a year.

PCHS 5 Year Reunion
Powell County High School 5-Year General Class Reunion will be held Saturday, May 29, at the Powell County High School beginning at 12 noon. This reunion is for every student who has attended PCHS. A lunch menu is planned and the cost is $10 per person. There will also be a silent auction with all proceeds going to fund the scholarships given annually to seniors. An advance head count is required for the lunch so please send in your lunch reservation along with your payment no later than May 1 to Powell County High Alumni Assoc., P.O. Box 12, Stanton, Kentucky 40380.
The Powell County DAV Chapter #103 has changed their meeting dates from the third Tuesday of each month to the second Thursday at 6 p.m.
Weight Management Classes
The Powell County Health Department and Powell County Extension Office will be offering a weight management series each Thursday night from Jan. 7 to March 11. Classes are free and will be held at 6 p.m. at the Powell County Extension Office. Participants will learn practical ways to eat healthy and get more physical activity. Cookbooks and other giveaways will be provided, along with the opportunity to sample healthy recipes each week. For more information, please call 663-6405 or 663-4360.
Friends of Powell County’s Pets will be hosting another low cost spay and neuter clinic on Jan. 23 at the Clay City Elementary School. Registration is required. Male dogs cost $48, female dogs are $58, male cats are $38 and female cats cost $48. Call 606-481-5721 to sign your pet up.
Friends of PC Pets Meetings
Friends of Powell County’s Pets hold their monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at the Clay City Elementary School. For more information call 606-424-4100. If the school is closed the group meets at Hood’s Pizza in Stanton.
Powell County Diabetes Support Group
Kentucky River Foothills Rural Health Network is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Class. Classes will meet every second Thursday of the month. Classes meet at the Powell Adult Day Care (behind Foothills Mobile Clinic) in Clay City from 4-5 p.m. For more info, please call Tena at 663-9011

Stop Smoking Classes
The next Cooper/Clayton smoking cessation class began on Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. The class will be held at the Powell County Extension Office. To register for the class you need to go to the Powell County Health Department at 376 North Main Street in Stanton. There will be a one time $50 charge for the nicotine replacement products. The $50 is due at the time of registration and must be paid in cash. The $50 will pay for your patches gum or lozenges for the duration of the program. This is a 13-week class that will meet every Wednesday. If you complete the program the $50 will be refunded at the end of the program. You must be present at the classes to get your nicotine replacement products for the next week.

The Powell County Higher Education Development Board will meet on the third Thursday of each month at the Powell County High School Library at 6 p.m.
