Christmas Dinner
The Rose Family and friends will be holding their 10th Annual Community Christmas Dinner. The dinner will be at the Clay City Elementary Cafeteria on Christmas Day and will begin at 11:30 a.m.
The dinner is free and the public is welcome. So come and enjoy a great dinner and some friendly fellowship.

Census Jobs
Census jobs are coming to Kentucky. The U.S. Census Bureau now is looking for applicants to fill thousands of jobs this spring in neighborhoods across the state.
The process begins with taking the basic skills test to work for the Census Bureau.
To sign up for a test or for information about working in the 2010 Census, call toll-free 1-866-861-2010. Or go online to www.2010censusjobs.gov. The Census Bureau is offering tests at the Powell County Public Library on Dec. 29 at 1 p.m.
DAV Meeting
The Powell County DAV Chapter #103 has changed their meeting dates from the third Tuesday of each month to the second Thursday at 6 p.m.
Weight Management Classes
The Powell County Health Department and Powell County Extension Office will be offering a weight management series each Thursday night from Jan. 7 to March 11. Classes are free and will be held at 6 p.m. at the Powell County Extension Office. Participants will learn practical ways to eat healthy and get more physical activity. Cookbooks and other giveaways will be provided, along with the opportunity to sample healthy recipes each week. For more information, please call 663-6405 or 663-4360.
Powell County Diabetes Support Group
Kentucky River Foothills Rural Health Network is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Class. Classes will meet every second Thursday of the month. Classes meet at the Powell Adult Day Care (behind Foothills Mobile Clinic) in Clay City from 4-5 p.m. For more info, please call Tena at 663-9011
Stop Smoking Classes
The next Cooper/Clayton smoking cessation class will begin on Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. The class will be held at the Powell County Extension Office. To register for the class you need to go to the Powell County Health Department at 376 North Main Street in Stanton. There will be a one time $50 charge for the nicotine replacement products. The $50 is due at the time of registration and must be paid in cash. The $50 will pay for your patches gum or lozenges for the duration of the program. This is a 13-week class that will meet every Wednesday. If you complete the program the $50 will be refunded at the end of the program. You must be present at the classes to get your nicotine replacement products for the next week. The last day to register for the class will be Jan. 4. This session will be limited to the first 20 paid participants.
Alumni Association
The Powell County Alumni Association will meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Powell County Public Library at 7 p.m. Call 663-5209 for more details.
