James “Jimmy” Chadwick, 54
James Edward “Jimmy” Chadwick, 54, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington. He was born Dec. 11, 1958 in Winchester to Jesse and Ozenia Curtis Chadwick. He was a professional wrestler. Survivors include his parents, Jesse and Ozenia Chadwick, Stanton; sons, Aaron Chadwick, Winchester, Tyler Chadwick, Clay City, and Cameron Chadwick, Ewing; sister, Dena Kirkpatrick, Stanton; grandson, Aaron Scott Chadwick.
Services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Marion Brewer, Rev. James Harold Combs, and special guest speaker Chris Corman. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery, Stanton with Michael Bruner, Danial Bruner, Jimmy Wall, Larry Jones, and Shane Parker serving as pallbearers.
Polly Moreland, 80
Polly Jean (Tharpe) Moreland, 80 of Canton, OH died peacefully in the home on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 after a long battle with lung disease. Born Nov. 6, 1932 to the late Forrest and Ida Mae (Morton) Tharpe, she was the elder sister to David (June), the late Thomas (Linda), and William (Linda) Thorpe, all of Stanton.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Carl W. Moreland, Sr., with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on Sept. 15. Beloved mother to Patti O’Malley of Canton, OH, Carl (the late Brenda) Moreland, Jr. of Louisville, OH, Cynthia (James) Brownlee of Bolivar, OH, and Russell (Tonee) Moreland of Greentown, OH. Adoring grandmother to Brian (Jennifer) Hunter, Catherine O’Malley, Andrew (Kari) Moreland, Kristen Moreland, Tracey Parr, Amber (Eric) Valentine, Russell Moreland, Reannan Moreland and Taryn (Alex) Eberhardt, and loving great-grandmother of 12. Polly leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her wonderful smile, warm hugs and her loving and gentle nature.
Polly graduated in 1950 from Powell County High School in Stanton, married in 1953 and soon became a homemaker and Army wife. She established stable and loving homes for her family throughout the United States and in Europe during her husband’s 20 year military career. Polly enjoyed reading, gardening, painting, and caring for her precious Daisy Mae. Polly was a member of the Eastern Star and Beechwood Christian Church in Alliance, OH. An ardent student of the Bible, she will be missed by her church families where she served the Lord throughout her life in various Women’s ministries.
Funeral service was conducted Sept. 24 at the Reed Funeral Home (Canton Chapel) with Pastors Peter Hall and Mark Black officiating. Brother John Keen provided Christian music that Polly loved so dearly. Polly was laid to rest Oct. 17, 2013 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. John Stevenson, 72
John Henry Stevenson, 72, 798 Frames Branch Road, Clay City, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was born Nov. 18, 1940 in Winchester to the late Harley Miller and Jennie Garrett Stevenson. He was retired telephone employee and United States Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his brother, Larry Ray Stevenson; sisters, Margaret Faye Ashley and Wanda Kay and husband, Glen Creech; nephews and nieces, Ronald Eugene and wife, Amy Ashley, Connie and husband, Franky Blackwell, Tony Eller, Christina and husband, Ricky Roberts, and Tina and husband, Kevin Maynard; and several great-nephews and nieces. Services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Dale Payne.
Pallbearers serving were Ron Ashley, Tony Eller, Kevin Maynard, Rick Roberts, B J York, John York, and Jacob Carroll. Honorary pallbearers serving were all of his friends, too many to name.
Rosetta Tomlinson, 77
Rosetta Tomlinson, 77, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at the Stanton Nursing Home. She is survived by five brothers, Ladon Rogers of Stanton, James Rogers of Stanton, Billy Bibes and Alan Bibes of Memphis IN, Walter Bibes JR of Virginia and Tommy Tomlinson; two daughters Bonnie Lairson of Stanton and Anna Mason. She was preceded in death by a brother Alfred Rogers and a sister Carolyn Rogers.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 28, 2013 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scoby Faulkner officiating. Burial followed in the Townsend Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Willoughby, Ladon Rogers, Tom Lairson, Terry Willoughby, Jacob Rose, Michael Bush and David Brandenburg. Grayson Funeral Home was in charge of services.
Robert Turpin, 65
Robert Lee Turpin, 65, of Irvine, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. He was a former mechanic and an Army Veteran.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Lee Turpin Jr. of Colorado, Christopher Turpin of Louisville and Joshua Turpin of Richmond; one daughter, Rebecca Richardson of Irvine; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy , Elmo Wayne and Jackie Turpin all of Irvine; two sisters, Virginia Stambaugh of Germany and Carolyn Dawes of Irvine. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmo and Zelma Turpin.
Graveside services were held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at the Donnie G Randall Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Stanton with Bro. Jason Riddle officiating. Grayson Funeral Home was in charge of services.
