Nellie Cloud, 65
Nellie Cloud, 65, Gadsden, Alabama, wife of Robert Cloud, died Friday, Nov. 6. She was born April 14, 1944 in Slade to the late Hubert and Delpha Branham Elam.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Cloud; sons, Greg Ashley, Gadsden, Ala. and Bob Cloud, Auburn, Ala.; daughters, Carolyn Lagutap, Lexington, Sandy Territo, Boaz, Ala., Robin Gall, Lexington, and Mary Beth Cloud, Gadsden, Ala.; grandchildren, Stacy Chavis, Chris Lagutap, Robbie Ashley, and Jackie Lagutap; great-grandchildren, Tyler Chavis, Breauna Lagutap, Chrishauna Lagutap, and Crislin Lagutap.
Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery, Stanton.
Wayne P. Combs, 96
Wayne Price Combs, 96 of Duncan, died on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Duncan Regional Hospital in Duncan. Wayne was born Oct. 24, 1913 in Beattyville, to Spencer and Katherine (Gentry) Combs. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. Wayne enlisted the day after Pearl Harbor and served in the Philippines.
On Sept. 29, 1950, Wayne married Omega Bennett at Stanton. She preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2002. He was a retired machinist, working for Powers and Sons of Ohio before moving to Duncan. He enjoyed reading and music and played the guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandelin. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God.
He is survived by one son, Michael Combs and wife Sandy of Sherman, Texas; one daughter, Angela Lovett and husband Randal of Marlow; one sister, Jean Maricle of Winnabow, NC; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Jim Blalock of Chickasha, Jared and Allison Lovett of Duncan and Miranda Combs of Sherman, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Riley Kate Blalock of Chickasha and Jack Ryder Lovett of Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, seven brothers, two sisters.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Bethel Assembly of God Church with Ron Meador and William Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Michael Combs, Randal Lovett, Jared Lovett, Jim Blalock, Gary Lovett, Steve Lovett. Thomas C. Newberry, 37
Thomas Corbett Newberry, 37, 2954 Campton Road, died Saturday in an automobile accident. He was born March 16, 1972 in Lexington to Charles Newberry and Margaret Sexton.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Sexton, Miamisburg, Ohio; father, Ray Morton, Stanton; daughter, Shonna Newberry, Middletown, Ohio; sister, Angela Helton, Stanton; Fiancé, Melissa Shrewsbury, Stanton.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Herbert Barnett. Burial followed in Faulkner Cemetery, Middlefork. Pallbearers who served were Billy Helton, Dwight McPhearson, Shane Fletcher, Larry Morton, Larry Ray Morton, and Anthony Morton.
