Candace “Candy” Baxter, 64, Cat Creek Road, Stanton, passed away Saturday, May 4, at St. Joseph Mount Sterling. She was born May 20, 1948 in Stanton to the late James Jackson and Elsie Allen Crowe.
Survivors include, daughter, Kitty Krueger, Louisville; brothers: Burton and wife, Joan Crowe, Lexington, A.C. and wife Jean Crowe, Princeton, Rodney Crowe, Princeton, Jimmy and wife, Pam Crowe, Stanton; grandson, Scott Krueger; special companion, Carl McFarland, Stanton; special friends, Shirley Darlene Petitt and Betty Boone; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donville Crowe; and niece, Tina Crowe.
Services were held on Tuesday, May 7 at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Grider Denny. Burial in Cat Creek Cemetery, Stanton with Scotty Krueger, Jimmy Crowe, Tim Crowe, Chris McFarland, Doyle McFarland, and Mark Nolan. Honorary pallbearers serving, Burton Crowe, A.C. John W. Hall, 69, Clay City, widower of Barbara Fallen Hall, passed away Saturday, May 4 at Clark Regional Medical Center. He was born July 25, 1943 in Powell County to the late James W. and Dorothy H. Goodwin Hall. He was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include, sons, James E. and wife, Frankie Hall, Eugene Hall, and John Ricky Hall, all of Clay City; daughters, Mary and husband, Bobby McKinney, Clay City, Sherry and husband, Archie Vires, Clay City, Judy and husband, Tony Rogers, Winchester and Vickie and Rex Maschino, Hall, Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Franklin and wife, Nellie Hall, Clay City, Amery Hall, Clay City, Richard and wife, Connie Hall, Montgomery County, Rodney Hall, Clay City, and Scottie Hall, Clay City; sisters, Elizabeth and husband, Logan Fouch, Clay City, and Helen and husband, Danny Corey, Montgomery County; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.
Services were held on Wednesday, May 8 at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Tony Rogers and Rev. Billy Keller. Burial was in West Bend Cemetery with Tony Rogers, Joshua Knox, Benjamin Hall, Adam Townsend, David Hall and Dustin McCoy. Honorary pallbearers serving were Lisa Caldwell, Margaret Morton, Red River Foothills Staff, and Jeff Treadway.

Carl Ledford, 81, 725 Sand Lick Road, husband of Gloria Ledford, passed away Sunday, April 28, at his residence. He was born April 6, 1932 in Slade to the late Courtney and Anna Belle McKenzie Ledford. He was an Army Veteran and the retired founder of Ledford Electric.
Survivors include, wife, Gloria Boyd Ledford, Stanton; son, Kevin and wife, Rhonda Ledford, New Carlisle, OH; daughters, Kim Lakins, Dayton, OH and Pamela and Cecil Howard, New Carlisle, OH; brothers, Ira Ledford, Winchester, Gene Ledford, Stanton, and Trulan Ledford, Stanton; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Winchester, Dorothy Rose, Stanton, Beulah Toombs, Dayton, OH, and Bonnie Delong, Enon, OH; grandchildren, Amy Studebaker, Abby Ledford, Joshua Garcia, Michael Couch, Mindy Couch, Kaylynn Lakins and Jimmy Adkins; great-grandchildren, Lily and Rhett Studebaker, and Carter Couch.

Everett Darren Pennington, 46
Everett Darren Pennington, age 46, of Allen Drive, Stanton, KY died at his residence Wednesday night, May 1, 2013. Darren was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, a member of Powell’s Valley Baptist Church and a team member of Toyota Motor Company in Georgetown. He was an avid fisherman and a coach in the Red River Little League Softball League. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Ray Pennington, his sister, Dana Leigh Pennington and by his father-in-law, Louie Conley.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Conley Pennington and their daughters, Adrian Leigh (Jacob) Morton and Alyssa D’Joy Pennington all of Stanton; his parents, Everett and Elsie Joy Shepherd Pennington of Harlan; two sisters: Gwen (Joby) Jenkins of Harrogate, TN and Sharon (Granville) Howerton of Middlesboro; and by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Conley of Stanton.
Funeral services officiated by Bro. Gary Willoughby and Bro. Kermit Creech were held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Hearne Funeral Home, Inc., Stanton. Interment was in Stonegate Cemetery, 27 Stonegate, Stanton, with Joseph Jenkins, Adam Jenkins, Tyler Brewer, Jacob Morton, Ryck Conley, Dave Smith, Keith Caldwell and Jeff Wilson serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Brewer, Joby Jenkins, Granville Howerton, Troy Poe, Mike Pennington, Cory Dimaline, Mike Roberts, Steve Hale, Robert Whitley, Chris Hall, Jacob Patton, Jake Whitt and the Powell County High School Girls Softball Team.
