Police still searching for those involved in assault of elderly veteran
Police are still looking for the people responsible for beating and robbing an 85 year old Stanton man last week. James Todd, who lived on Main Street in Stanton told officers that a man and a woman came to his door last Monday evening. Todd said that they knocked on the door and then forced their way in.
The elderly Todd, a veteran, was hit in the head with what he told family members was an iron pipe. At least one family member told the Times that a piece of rebar was found on the side of the street only a few feet from Todd’s home.
There were no witnesses to the actual attack. However, those who came to Todd’s aid or went by to check on him said there was blood in the house and on the sidewalk outside.
Todd was taken to the VA Medical Center in Lexington for treatment of his injuries. At least 10 stitches were used to close up the wound on his head. He will remain in the hospital for at least another week.
Police are asking that if you have information about those responsible for the brutal attack to please call the Powell County Dispatch non-emergency line at (606) 663-4116 or the Stanton Police Department at (606) 663- 1459.
