Mark Ward, 43 

Mark Ward, 43, 36 Kentucky Highway 982 East, Cynthiana, husband of Michelle Macleod Ward, died Tuesday, June 29 at Bourbon Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1966 in Hazard to the late John Ward and Ethel Whitaker Olinger. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Ward, Cynthiana; mother, Ethel Whitaker Olinger; sister, Renee Billings, Stanton; nieces, Misty Renee Miller, Erin, Darcy, and Ellie Grace Billings; nephews, Jared and Jordan Napier; great-nephew, Brayden Miller; step-son, Bradley Pope; step-daughter, Cassidy Taylor; step-grandchildren, Cody, Mollee, and Allyson Taylor. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John Ward; and brothers, Dwight Ward and Jerry Napier. 

Funeral services were held Friday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton with burial in Whitaker Fork Cemetery, Perry County with military honors.


Mary Giles, 47

Mary Ellen Giles, 47, 136 Leawood Drive, Cynthiana, died Saturday, July 3 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born March 17, 1963 in Winchester to the late Taylor Shoemaker and Mina Holder Shoemaker. She was a homemaker. 

Survivors include her husband, Warren Giles, Cynthiana; sons, Timothy and wife, April Shoemaker, Midway, Jerry Jones Jr., Jeff, Jeremiah Lee and wife, Heather Jones, West Liberty; step-sons, William Giles, Versailles and Douglas Giles, Winchester; step-daughter, Diana Rose Giles, Frankfort; mother, Mina Shoemaker, Stanton; brother, Thomas Shoemaker, Clay City and Taylor Shoemaker Jr., Stanton; sisters, Dorothy Dawes, Georgetown, Brenda Estes, Clay City, and Rebecca Wells, Clay City; grandchildren, Preston Shoemaker, Abbi Jones, Serena Ross, Samantha Ross, and Whitney Fox. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton with burial in Kennon Cemetery, Hardwicks Creek Road, Clay City. 

Pallbearers were Timothy Shoemaker, Marty Estes, Robert Howard, Steve Strange, Chris Strange, and Eric Strange. Honorary pallbearers were Melissa Estes Gray, Kendra Riffe Estes, Brenda Estes, Dorothy Dawes, Rebecca Wells, and Stephanie Garcia. Visit guestbook at www.wellsfh.com
