The Red River Valley Chapter Daughter’s of the American Revolution is holding a free genealogy workshop Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Powell County Public Library in Stanton. Come research your roots. DAR members will be there to help you get started. For those interested in joining a patriotic group, assistance with the DAR application process will be available. Refreshments will be served.
Estill-Powell ASAP Board is offering Free parenting class sessions. “Guiding Good Choices” is focused on parents of 9 to 14 year old children. These five sessions help parents deal with topics their 4th through 9th grader will soon face. Parents can help their child build confidence, cope with peer pressure, help prevent substance abuse and feel secure in their family. This nationally recognized program has proven to be effective in giving parents the skills they need for effective family communication and family bonding.

The descendants of the late Lonnie Nelson Marcum and Ella Kathryn Rogers Marcum invite all family, relatives and friends to the seventh annual reunion on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Lion’s Club Park in Stanton. Financial Peace Classes
The Stanton Christian Church and Foothills will be hosting Financial Peace Classes using the Dave Ramsey videos and materials. The classes are free for residents of Powell, Estill, Madison and Clark counties and will be taught by Bill Arrowood. The classes will be held on Thursday’s for 12 weeks running from Sept. 28 through Dec. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Stanton Christian Church.
