Story Time at the Powell County Public Library is every Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for ages 3 to 5 years. We will read stories, do crafts and sometimes a movie.
Community Education, a program of the Clark County Schools, is offering the following classes in October and November: Basic of Word Processing, Beading (Holiday), Concealed Carry Weapons Training, Middle Eastern Dance, Monday Yoga, Polymer Clay-Christmas Ornaments, Self Defense for Women, Shaolin Kung Fu, Street Smarts and Personal Safety (Free), Swing and Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Tax Free Investing (Free), Urban/Outdoor Survival (Free), Wednesday Yoga, State Registered Nurse Aide (starts in January). Sylvania/GTE/Orsam Retirees Brunch
All Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram retirees are invited to a brunch at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 4. in the plant cafeteria. No RSVP is needed this year. All attendees should use the front parking lot and enter through the Lobby entrance.

How to Establish a Drug-Free Home
The local Estill/Powell Counties Kentucky ASAP (Agency on Substance Abuse Policy) Board will be providing a series of 5 parenting classes for FREE. Leaders will use the evidence-based curriculum, Guiding Good Choices. It is geared for parents and caregivers of children ages 9-14 years of age. Classes will be held every Tuesday at the Head Start Building located on Ladonna Drive in Clay City from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Classes will take place on Dec. 1, 8, and 15. The Powell County DAV Chapter #103 has changed their meeting dates from the third Tuesday of each month to the second Thursday at 6 p.m.
Powell County Diabetes Support Group
Kentucky River Foothills Rural Health Network is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Class. Classes will meet every second Thursday of the month. Classes meet at the Powell Adult Day Care (behind Foothills Mobile Clinic) in Clay City from 4-5 p.m. For more info, please call Tena at 663-9011

Baseball Chili Dinner
The Powell County Little League would like to announce it will be having a free chili dinner from 2-4 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Clay City Municipal Building. All previous players, sponsors, and anyone interested in our upcoming season are welcome to join. There will be forms available for anyone who would like to volunteer. The Powell County Democrats in Action group meets on the third Thursday each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Powell County Courthouse.
Shop with a Cop
The Powell County Sheriff’s Office will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 10 so they can take part in the annual Shop with a Cop Program.
If weather conditions cause the Dec. 10 date to be cancelled, the Shop with a Cop Program will take place on Thursday, Dec. 17.
