Rev. J.F. Hunt, 61
Rev. J. F. (June) Hunt, age 61, Mt. Pleasant Road, Owingsville, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling. Born April 20, 1948, in Irvine, he was the son of the late Ben F. Hunt, Jr. and Edna Adams Hunt. He was an employee of Square D for 16 years, retired from Donatech after 10 years of service, and enjoyed gardening and raising Charolais cattle. A minister for more than 38 years, he was ordained in 1978 at the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling. He was the pastor of several churches including Moore’s Creek First Church of God in Stanton, Polksville First Church of God and Preston First Church of God, both in Bath County, and Jackson First Church of God in Breathitt County.
Survivors include his wife, Toni G. Bailey Hunt, whom he wed June 30, 1972; one daughter, Loralyn Courtney and her husband Gene of Owingsville; one sister, Robbin Durbin and her husband Larry of Irvine; three half-brothers, Roy Grimes and Ray Bradley of Winchester, and Don Bradley of Stanton; several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Terra and Tanya Durbin.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Lowell C. Rice with burial at the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.
Pallbearers were Tony Durbin, Gary Buckler, Alvin Howard Buckler, Randy Reed, Jeffrey Harmon and Albert Harmon. Honorary pallbearers were C. J. Reed, Travis Reed, Matt Dillon, Brandon Dillon, Jamie Otis, Aaron Harmon, and Andrew Harmon.
Burton Godsey, 42
Burton Dewain Godsey, 42, 182 Airport Road, Stanton, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester. He was a construction worker with Sam Harris Concrete, and an avid fan of the UK Wildcats. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Faye Vance Godsey; a brother, Jeff Spencer; a sister, Glenda Spencer.
Survivors include his father, Malcom Godsey Jr.; mother, Patty (Dwight) Brown of Stanton; five sisters, Darlene (Thomas) Rose of Mt. Sterling, Clara Graham of Winchester, and Janice Kennon of Richmond, Wanda Tester and Vanessa Brown of Stanton.
Funeral services were conducted by Bro. David Rule at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Nada Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kevin Smith, Khris Sparks, Justin Spencer, Ryan Tipton, Tom Rose, Ralph King, Sammy Aylan and Dewayne Kennon.
Janet Goodwin, 52
Janet Carol Goodwin, 52, 77 Vine Street, Stanton, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 at Stanton Nursing Center. Born in Mt. Sterling, she was a daughter of the late Virgil Ernest Goodwin Sr., and the late Alwena Smallwood Goodwin. She was a member of Bowen First Church of God and the Bowen First Church of God WCG’s Ladies Group. She was an employee of Stanton Nursing Center for nearly 30 years, and served as their activity director for approximately 23 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Franklin Goodwin; and a nephew, Mark William Keith.
Survivors include three brothers, Virgil Ernest Goodwin Jr. and wife Gloria of Athens, Tenn., James Alec Goodwin and his wife Myra and David Ray Goodwin and his wife Cheryl, both of Stanton; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Keith and her husband Mark of Winchester; one sister-in-law, Mary Goodwin Shepherd; nine nieces and nephews, Daphne Keith, Becky Vallejo, Emily Cox, Jonathan and wife Carol Goodwin, James Brandon Goodwin, William Goodwin, Jarod Goodwin, Ryan Goodwin and Brett Goodwin; and two great nephews, Matteo and Jordan Vallejo.
Funeral services were held by Bro. Stephen Donithan and Bro. Jonathan Goodwin at noon Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at Bowen Fist Church of God, Stanton with burial at Stanton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Smallwood, Bobby Picklesimer, Cebert Faulkner, Harold Faulkner, Charles Smallwood, Gene Smallwood, Jay Means, Larry Cox and Delbert Brown. Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Stanton Nursing Center and the Bowen First Church of God WCG’s Ladies Group.

Allyssa Cox, infant
Allyssa Eyveigh Cox, infant daughter of Mason and Jessica Bush Cox, 540 Sawmill Road, Jeffersonville, died Jan. 24, 2010 at UK Chlidren’s Hospital, Lexington. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Pamela Sue Bush and her great-grandfathers, Clifton Strange and Eyvind Cox.
Survivors in addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Ethan and Hayden Cox; grandparents, Woodrow and Diana Bush, Peggy and Gary Biddle and Roy and Michelle Cox; great-grandparents, Maglene Strange, and Frank and Bonnie Toy.
Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Ralph Farmer and Bro. Warren Rogers at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel, Stanton with burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at Strange Cemetery, Clay City.
Pallbearers were Woodrow Bush, Roy Cox, Gary Biddle, Matthew Cox, Laura Cox and Michael Williams.
