Dorothy McIntosh, 93
Dorothy E. McIntosh, 93, died on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Shirley D. McIntosh, who passed before her in 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest L. and Stella Mastin Patton, and brother, Chester Patton. She worked for the telephone company as an operator during WWII in Cincinnati, Ohio, living with her parents, while her husband was serving our country in Europe. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years during several wars and conflicts. She worked beside her husband in the clothing retail business until retirement. She had many good years of life, caring for others because she wanted to, traveling, visiting various family/friends wherever they were located and devoting herself to keeping her mind sharp and her spirit up and trying to help everyone else do the same. She was a devoted and faithful Christian, a loving, kind, caring, humerous, intelligent, nurturing, unselfish, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great-grandmother, always concerned and looking out for the care and comfort of others. Willing to do, and did, whatever was needed of anyone who came to her, with a gracious heart. She loved her family and friends dearly and showed that love always. She was a true lady with a caring, loving, and giving spirit that will always be remembered.
Survivors include a son, Roland L. (Loretta) McIntosh; a daughter, Nancy L. (Jerry) Chaney; four grandchildren, Carmen (Jeffrey) Liles, Timothy D. Everman, Alex (Lisa) McIntosh, Brady (Shannon) Chaney; nine great-grandchildren, Shawn D. Everman, Paige Stamper, Justin D. Everman, Tucker Liles, Trent Liles, Dorothy Grace Liles, Nathan Liles, Brilee McIntosh, and Maggie Patton Chaney; and a great-great grandson, Landon D. Everman; cousins, (Mastin/Perry Clan); sisters/brothers-in-law; numerous nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews through her husband’s extended family (Spencer/McIntosh clan) and many friends, who she loved much as they did her in return. She will not be forgotten by anyone who knew her.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Stanton Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers were Timothy D. Everman, Brady Chaney, Alex McIntosh, Jeffrey Liles, Shawn D. Everman, and Justin D. Everman. Honorary pallbearers were Virginia Gill, D.W. Perry, Suzie Coverdale, George Perry Jr., Andrea Fortney, Lucy Crowe, Angelyn Maloney, Joanne Crowe, Bruce Crowe, Mariam Todd, Phyllis McGee, and Dr. Charles Noss.
