Story Time at the Powell County Public Library is every Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for ages 3 to 5 years. We will read stories, do crafts and sometimes a movie.

Community Education, a program of the Clark County Schools, is offering the following classes in October and November: Basic of Word Processing, Beading (Holiday), Concealed Carry Weapons Training, Middle Eastern Dance, Monday Yoga, Polymer Clay-Christmas Ornaments, Self Defense for Women, Shaolin Kung Fu, Street Smarts and Personal Safety (Free), Swing and Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Tax Free Investing (Free), Urban/Outdoor Survival (Free), Wednesday Yoga, State Registered Nurse Aide (starts in January). The Powell County Boys Elementary Basketball sign-ups will be held at Stanton Elementary Gym Thursday, Nov. 12, Tuesday, Nov. 17 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, 6-8 p.m. Last date for sign-ups will be Nov. 19. Little League Baseball
The Powell County Little League will have a meeting on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Building behind the Powell County High School.
How to Establish a Drug-Free Home
The local Estill/Powell Counties Kentucky ASAP (Agency on Substance Abuse Policy) Board will be providing a series of 5 parenting classes for FREE. Leaders will use the evidence-based curriculum, Guiding Good Choices. It is geared for parents and caregivers of children ages 9-14 years of age. Classes will be held every Tuesday at the Head Start Building located on Ladonna Drive in Clay City from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Classes will take place on November 17, Dec. 1, 8, and 15. The Powell County DAV Chapter #103 has changed their meeting dates from the third Tuesday of each month to the second Thursday at 6 p.m.
Diabetes Support Group
Kentucky River Foothills Rural Health Network is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Class. Classes will meet every second Thursday of the month. Classes meet at the Powell Adult Day Care (behind Foothills Mobile Clinic) in Clay City from 4-5 p.m. For more info, please call Tena at 663-9011

The Powell County Higher Education Development Board will meet on the third Thursday of each month at the Powell County High School Library at 6 p.m.

Democrats In Action
The Powell County Democrats in Action group meets on the third Thursday each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Powell County Courthouse.
The Powell County Health Department and the Powell County Extension Office will hold a series of four Diabetes 101 classes on Tuesdays- Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and 10. The classes will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Powell County Extension Office. Different topics will be covered each night such as an overview of diabetes, meal plans, medications & insulin and preventing complications.
